workshop late 2010, "Bamboo and Sustainability"
George Kaye (from "Production Consumption") and Jennifer Tang were the central organises of a series of workshops at the wonderful Melange Oasis. The idea of the workshop sessions was for Art+ and Production Consumption to use bamboo is a focal point for an artistic exploration of sustainability and ideas behind consumption. A group of talented university students participated. We had some interesting conversation and relfection, and the art work produced says volumes about the direction of the discussion. The work is still currently on show at the wonderful Melange Oasis.

event 24/11/09 New York Steak and Burger Bar
We raised around 4000 rmb at this event, and had over 80 people attend. This event featured work from the
Art+ coop and other artists, all local professionals or expats. We had great wine, and wonderful food
supplied by New York Steak and Burger. Money raised went to The Library Project and Shanghai Sunrise.

event 28/6/09 Sydney's Restaurant
This was our first major event, and we raised almost 10,000rmb- enough for two libraries in poor rural schools.

Exterior of Sydneys, day 27th May Tom Stader, founder of The Library Project Night of the event, we got around 80-100 people over the night
This was our first event, and we were all a bit nervous about how this would go. We were concerned about this because we wanted to, of course, raise the target- 10,000rmb. We were also anxious to work through any organisational issues that might effect us in future events, and to get a feel for what an "Art+ event" would (and should?) be like.

Tom from The LIbrary Project gave a great talk about the group, and gave us a feel for where the money would be going. We saw images of the actual school. It was good to see the goal. It wasn't abstract, it was there for us to see. We needed 5000rmb to create a library for this school, so in the end we raised enough for two such libraries.

Without the generosity of Lena and her husband, and the hardwork of the Art+ cooperative, the night wouldn't have come together the way it did. And of course, your support made everything possible. Art+ drew a few elements together, but those who came and showed support made the library possible.
